Science fiction is simply a way to practice the future together. i suspect that is what many of you are up to, practicing futures together, practicing justice together, living into new stories. It is our right and responsibility to create a new world.–adrienne marie brown, Emergent Strategy
Join us for a generative conversation about how to engage actively in our current moment in a way that works with our bodies, our planet, and our lives. In our second installment of Counternarratives Book Club, we will discuss Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds by Adrienne Marie Brown. This 2017 manual for a new paradigm of activism somehow keeps getting more relevant. Brown draws from a deep study of the work of Octavia Butler (author of our first book club pick, Parable of the Sower) to ask: How might we act more like mushrooms as we shape change in this world? Or grow more like ferns or sunflowers?
The discussion will be led by Amy Robinson.
