Since it’s my birthday, I thought I’d trot out whatever I’m working on, this poem:
Ontology
I was ready for school
My mom got on my level
She zipped up my jacket
And looked me in the eye
I could never imagine
She said, How much
She loved me
I mean I assumed it was a lot
And now I have two girls
Little girls, my own ones, so floppy
It truly is a love that surpasses understanding
I tell them, like Paul said of God
As I fold them into their carseats
Fumble with the buckles
And curse
A love
As big
As the idea
Of a thought
